the dolphin post : was the non-de pluck for Ian Osborne, a Norfolk based one (at that moment) man band

sighs and mirrors : is the name of his last CD as the dolphin post..... the dolphin is now in hibernation having made a lovely bed under the stairs. Ian is now surrounded by a group of musicians he still cant believe his luck in meeting. They go by the name of "the Osborne files" and the 'files fly (www.osbornefiles.co.uk)

enthusiasm over accuracy : is how he describes his approach "I long ago realised that virtuosity like virtue would always be beyond my grasp, so clutching at straws I went for feel over fluidity"

corner of the room : is the name he has given to his studio. A corner of his study overladen with instruments, microphones and headphones to record his hushed vocals so as not to wake anyone else after they've gone to bed

cover songs : treated with respect but with a wish to do something other than copy. "I loath tribute acts, if you want to hear the record listen to the record"

a late starter : Accurately described as middle aged if you knew anyone of 112, he came to songwriting late after an unhappy love affair with a job.... " now six years later...its a dripping tap and I cant turn it off"

into his anecdotage : a career working in TV and with many famed musicians from Elvis Costello to Des O'Connor and Stevie Wonder to Rod Jane & Freddy means that just like he told Kenny Everett he cant help dropping names into the conversation.
